These Memories That Govern Us - News

About the book
These Memories That Govern Us

Ces souvenirs qui nous gouvernent
by Patrick Estrade

Our memories are a fundamental component of our personalities. They are the benchmarks of what we’ve lived through that accompany us throughout our entire lives, and even sometimes unconsciously make our most important decisions for us. We all have millions of memories tied to different events, meetings, places, ambiances, etc. They are there, engraved in our emotional memory’s hard drive and reappear because of a scent, a loosened cobblestone or during an evening out with friends or family when someone inevitably asks " Do you remember when… ? ". There is a direct link between the past of the memory and the present we are living. Patrick Estrade opens a completely original path towards self-enlightenment by proposing a method for interpreting memories. He argues that we don’t remember things haphazardly. Whether happy or painful, our memories reveal who we are. They speak to us, particularly those from our childhood, but we don’t hear them. In order to evolve as humans, he feels strongly that we need to open the door to our memories in order to liberate the energy and strength of the life that is imprisoned within.

Patrick Estrade studied at the Analytical Psychology Institute in Berlin. He is both a psychologist and psychotherapist, and is the author of a dozen works including Comment je me suis débarrassé de moi-même, which appeared in 2004 as part of the "Réponses" imprint. While living in Nice, he shares his time between his private practice, writing, conferences and workshops that he organizes throughout Europe.
